I am fairly new to the area so don't have many people to ask. I am interested in sending my younger child to the part time program at Carmel Montessori but can't find any type of feedback or ratings online for them. Does anyone know anything about the school or it's history? TIA

Not a good Montessori School there are better ones out there continue your search. Very high teacher student ratio. There is no cut off and more and more children get taken into the program. Inorder for Montessori to work there needs to be a balance in age groups this does not happen at CMS. Your child will not receive the one on one attention they deserve. Assistants are not properly trained to AMS standards. Although the directress is AMS certified she does not properly train her assistants with the Montessori materials.

Carmel Montessori actually has 2 AMS certified teachers (out of 4 teachers total), and a teacher/student ratio of 1:10 which is well below the recommended AMS guidelines of 1:15 when 2 AMS certified teachers are on hand, and all staff are trained on the materials and Montessori methods and procedures. Also, there is a cutoff on enrollment to ensure the ratio remains consistent and within guidelines. Lastly, the children consistently get the proper attention they need from the staff to become independent in the classroom and in their lives, which includes as much one-on-one attention as a particular child needs. Repeat enrollments each year of preschool and many younger siblings of former students enrolling is proof that Carmel Montessori is doing things right!
