We currently live in MA, but my family is in Indy and we would love to move back. One of my issues here is the lack of gifted programs, which in MA are considered elitist.

I've read what I can find online, I've looked at ISTEP scores and Greatschools ratings, as well as housing prices - but what I can't find much of online is personal experiences. I would love to know which districts and specific elementary schools parents think highly of for high-ability programs. I'd also like to hear specifics about the programs - the township schools especially say very little on their websites, and where the GT program is only in select/magnet schools - it's impossible to figure out online, at least that's been my experience.

So basically, I'm wondering - what can you tell me that the numbers can't? I know which schools look the best online, but I'd really like to hear from parents who know how well the programs really work. I'm open to learning more about any school/district in the Indy area - including those that are a bit farther out, such as Westfield, Greenwood, Plainfield, etc.

Thanks!
Lori

Carmel/Fishers Schools have like a virtually 100% passing on the Istep Scores. The Suburbs of Indy's Schools are by far the best in the state.
Also my friends who have kids say the schools are very nice and they enjoy it there.

Cant talk of the gifted program but carmel is excellent. My son has asbergers and they have a great program for kids like him. Thats rarer than a solid gifted program. So i would guess their gifted program would be top notch too.

My kids were in the GT program in the Avon school system (west of Indy, north of Plainfield). Avon is known for good schools. All 3 of my kids did great academically, very high SAT scores, and full or nearly full academic scholarships to college. So I'm a believer in the Avon schools (of course I'm not saying a school system can single-handedly infuse success in their students, but Avon provided good opportunities for success).
