We are considering moving to Carmel, IN from Boulder, CO. We have two boys ages 5 and 7. We would like to live in a family friendly neighborhood with great schools and family friendly activities (concerts in the park, homecoming parades, rec center, parks, etc...)

We are looking for a home in the $225-300 range. My husband would be working in Tipton, IN.

Is Carmel close enough to commute to Tipton? Is there a better area/neighborhood for families?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as we do not know anyone that live in Indiana.

Not much in that price range in Carmel. I would suggest Westfield. Many parks in the area, family activities and a new sports park is being built. There are many nice homes under $300,000.

^^^That's simply not true. There are plenty of homes in Carmel in that price range. I just did a search on MIBOR of 3/2/2 homes in that price range and found 141 listings.

Carmel meets the OPs criteria, with the possible exception of homecoming parades. Do those still exist?

Carmel is a great city but if your hubby is working in tipton the traffic might be on the high side i would recommed Westfield also look into that area close to carmel and fast growing too

I was looking at homes in neighborhoods that I would consider family friendly" as the OP requested. I think a more realistic price range would be 300,000 to 400,000. But it depends on what type of neighborhood the OP desires.

What neighborhoods in Carmel are not family friendly?

There are homes in that price range in Carmel, but you will get a nicer home for that amount of money in Westfield.
