Would you support Marion County taxing out of county residents who work in Marion County?

Yes but ONLY if it goes to Mass Transit.
And only if it goes to Mass Transit.

The Stadium kind of crap is a good enough reason not to pass a tax.
So if theres a tax its for Mass Transit only.

No, mostly because I think it will cause downtown to lose more jobs to Carmel.

On the surface; I am for it. However, I work for a company that recently consolidated two separate Marion County offices into one single Hamilton County office. So, maybe I'm not so much for it.

I'm inclined to think this as well. However, for employers of significant size, I would think that downtown would still be the best location so as to draw talent from all over the metro area. I know I wouldn't want to commute from Greenwood to Carmel daily.

Been there, done that. The drive isn't bad with the exception of gas but coming from an area with real traffic, Indy isn't bad. I ask because I was watching WTHR yesterday and they were talking about people leaving the city and living in the 'burbs. All of the people coming in from Hamilton, Hendricks, Johnson, etc. pay taxes to their county all while adding to the burden of Marion county and its taxpayers to do upkeep on local roads for jobs suburbanites travel into the city for, pick up a paycheck and drive right back out.

Myself, honestly, I wouldn't mind but then again I realize that Central Indiana's vitality squarely falls on the shoulders of Indianapolis.

I don't think the issue is downtown emptying out en masse. I do think there is merit to the idea of a lot of companies following the lead of what my company did; move two offices from the northside of Marion County into Hamilton County. It is easy to move one exit north on I-69 from Castleton into Fishers. It is easy to move a few miles north of Keystone at the Crossing into downtown Carmel. Likewise, it is pretty easy to move office space in southern Marion County into Greenwood. I think that is the battleground area to watch for large scale movement out of Marion County.

Is that the same as a local withholding tax?

No, withholding tax is based off of the county you reside in so a person can work in marion, live in hamilton and only pay local tax for hamilton even though that person contributes to road deterioration in marion county

Local governments in Pennsylvania are authorized to impose a variety of local taxes, such as the earned income tax and the real property tax. Employers are required to withhold from their employees earned income and local services taxes imposed by municpalities and school districts.
Philadephia and Pittsburgh City requires employers to withhold and remit earned income taxes for all their employees who reside in Philadelphia even if they are employed at a site outside of Philadelphia. Pittsburgh City School District has a similar requirement. I thought maybe you were talking about something similar.
