Just like the rest of the Country but mildly better.
Our state just passed Right to Work and 2nd we just had the Super Bowl in our great city and already were using that to land more conventions and business investments which= jobs.

There are jobs out there. Just have to look and be flexible.

Please stop with the misinformation and try to stay focused on truthful and factual answers. If you are going to post here incessantly, you need to realize that your lack of knowledge is truly not helpful and may actually be harmful.

The December, 2011 unemployment rate in Indiana was 8.7% Only 12 states had higher unemployment rates, and the Indiana rate was higher that the US rate overall which was 8.3% The rate in Marion County (Indianapolis) was 9.1% Those stats are directly from the WorkForce One website: truthful, factual, and maybe actually helpful.

BTW--I hope you will share your thoughts on various apartments with us here. My D will be searching in the Carmel area very soon also at a similar price point.

It depends what type of work your GF is seeking just like many places.

There are jobs if you are not picky. I care less about unemployment rates because alot are there by choice and will be as long as the length is expanded. It also doesnt count those who dont qualify for unemployment and also the underemployed. A better gadge is that people are moving here for jobs from places with true employement problems like metro detroit. High end jobs are hard to find anywhere nowadays. It truely is who you know. But if you are looking for a get you by job or 2 there should be little problem finding those here in the customer service industries.

Exactly.
Heck Careerbuilder.com shows over 4200 companies hiring.
So as you said if your picky youll be unemployed if your flexible youll have a job.

Ya ill make sure to share my apartment findings here. My current job pays approx 32k which is OK for 1 person but it is pushing it for 2 people and to be able to actually go do stuff. She is bilingual and has management experience so i'm assuming she can find something (even if just part time to start with). I would really prefer not to get an efficiency to start with as it may be too small...

96th and Meridian? I wouldn't think there would be many college students there at all. Nice area. Better than 79th and Harcourt, IMO.

Anything north of 86th should be fairly good on north side. 96th should be carmel or north indy border. Decent area.
