Stop this nonsense already

The Nationals are in the Orioles market
The Brewers are in the Cubs/Sox Market
The Phillies are in the Yankees/Mets Market

Baseball can work here! We just need to snag a team like the Rays. Indianapolis would then become an American League east city. The Reds, Cubs and Cardinals are all National League teams and can still keep their contingent of Indianapolis fans. So stop this nonsense about Indy inability to be a major league city.

You're forgetting a key logistical point -- the MLB owners would have to approve a franchise's relocation to Indy. No way that happens. Castellini and Ricketts will ensure it doesn't happen.

It's not nonsense. The Reds ownership have consistantly said they would vote this down every time it has been brought up.

if you call that whining, then fine. I just think the Colts were a total embarrassment last season with or without Manning. It was like the entire team quit playing.

And many of them are gone now.

It's just the system. Baseball isn't a free-market democracy; it's an oligarchy run by billionaires who have say over who can play and who can't. We can't play. We simply have to accept that.

DC, Baltimore, Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia are much larger markets than Indy, so it doesn't really matter that the Phillies are just a stones throw away from New York because there are a bajillion people that live in that region.

We have attendance problems for a playoff-bound Pacer team that has been here for 45 years and plays in an 18K seat arena. You really think we would put buts in the seat of a 40K+ seat baseball stadium 81 times a year? No way. There are way too many teams in this region and in order to support a baseball team you would have to pull in fans from way outside of Indy which just isn't feasible. The MLB would fail here.

St. Louis and Cincy don't have NBA teams. Indy doesn't have an MLB team. Columbus only has an NHL team. There are a ton of large cities in the Midwest and they all can't have a professional team in every league. There just aren't enough people to support every big league sport in these cities.
