Ok, this seems like a major construction project scheduled to get underway sometime in the next couple weeks that will last through 2013. Yet I have seen nothing at all about it from the local media, the television news or the Indy Star. Every other day for the past 2 or 3 weeks, the Star has had some article about the constructions on US 31 in Carmel. But not a single mention of this.

So I thought I would bring it to everyones attention. This interchange is a bottleneck to avoid right now. When construction begins, expect it to be even worse! Although from the looks of the redesign, it will be worth it in the end.

Sweet! I think I'll try to work in Chicago more over the summer and avoid the hassle.

Actually, the last I heard it was being moved up and the 69/465 reconfiguation was being put off.

The only thing I don't understand is why the state won't expand I-69 to 3 lanes each way north of 116th street. I know if I ever have to travel to Northern Indiana during evening rush hour, traffic will be slower than it should be most of the way to Anderson. Does anyone know of any plans for expansion further north?

I've heard that's part of the long range plan. 6 lanes at least out to Exit 10 by 2025. Hopefully sooner than that! I still don't know why they didn't put an interchange in at 126th Street when they redid that bridge.

Yeah, the I-69/465 interchange is slated to begin in 2014 once this project is complete. And the site I linked to was just updated the end of March when they added the project timeline and that it will begin in April.

Get ready! US 31 will be highway quality, as well as Keystone! F-------- spending that money on public transit! That's for poor people! The only people that matter are the ones that can afford to drive when gas hits $5 a gallon.

By my calculations, a bus and a new bus route, costs less than making 3 lane highways. Even multiple bus routes and multiple new busses are less expensive than "X" amount of new highway construction.

God, I am so disappointed in my home state. It could really be the crossroads of America (again), do to it's location. But Indiana, it seems to me, squanders any leverage it has to keep the status quo.

Implementing IndyConnect or any variation thereof won't change the fact that the interchange in question is not only a traffic bottleneck, it's dangerous.

Improving mass transit in Indy won't take away the fact that the car will still be the dominant mode of travel, so roads will have to be improved and rebuilt.
