You'd better head over to Illinois, $3.48 at this very moment.

Gasoline prices are trending up all over the country, not just in Indiana. You can always cut your expenses by riding a bicycle/motorcycle or taking mass transit.

$3.30 in Texas, in sight of oil wells. But I did buy some this morning for $3.15. Just to give you some comparison.

My neighbor doesn't have a locking gas cap on his truck, so I never pay for gas.

"What is 'Supply & Demand'?... Basic Economics for $400, please."

Less supply + Relatively stable demand = More cost.

Contrary to what many people wish reality to be, there is less oil in the Earth now than there was 10 years ago. And even less when compared to 50 years ago. And the amount of oil in the Earth now is minuscule when compared to when Daniel Day-Lewis originally found it and drank all the milk shakes.

As long as people use oil, aka "gasoline", as the primary form of fueling their transportation, gas prices will continue to rise. Fact. Indisputable fact.

FYI, when I first started to drive, gas cost $1 and change. When it went up to $1.50 I about lost my mind with how expensive it was.

Just keep in mind your outrage that you currently have. Because when it goes up to $4.75 a gallon (which I promise it eventually will), you will S------ a brick. Then, for whatever mysterious reason, the price will drop to $3.75 and you will be throwing your hands up in fits of joy because gas is, "so cheap." Then gas will go up to $5.75 a gallon, and you will once again be outraged... and then it will mysteriously drop to $4.75 a gallon, and you will throw your hands up in fits of joy because gas is, "so cheap".

Public transit, or personal transportation that runs on something that is renewable/regenerative, is the only way to keep gas prices more level, with less dramatic jumps in prices.
