Hello - I am hoping some of you have recommendations on the best way to find a nice rental house in Indianapolis? A duplex or even triplex unit would also be okay, but I want something other than a large building or apartment complex.

I am relocating from 10 hours away and won't have the time I would like to slowly sort through things. Ideally, there would be a reliable broker or realtor to act as a finder and set up a bunch of viewing based on our criteria (2 bedroom min, 1.5 bathrooms - under $1500). I am still a little flexible on neighborhoods but nothing too far north (not Carmel or Fishers) as I will be working near UIndy. I am really interested in Irvington or other historic, somewhat urban neighborhoods, but wouldn't mind seeing a few suburban options to the south (near Greenwood?) as a basis of comparison.

It looks like finding a house to buy is pretty easy - and affordable - but I don't want to commit to a neighborhood before living in the area and seeing where I spend the majority of my non-work time.

I have searched craigslist - it is very hit or miss. I find a lot more options on Zillow's rental search but chasing them all down from the original source is time consuming.

Is there a good apartment finder service? Realtors that deal with (nicer!) rentals? Some insider Indy thing I don't know about?

Or should we resign ourselves to spending at least 6 months in a nice complex until we know the lay of the land?

Lieta LaRoche with Flock Real Estate is an excellent realtor. I highly recommend her, hands down!!! Also, there are a few units in a fourplex for lease on West Fall Creek Blvd South Dr -- great historic places, very affordable.
