We have been trying to sell our house in Cincinnati and move to Indy on and off for a year and a half. We just put it back on the market to try again. My job is near the airport and I had been looking in Plainfield/Avon. I have started expanding up towards Brownsburg and down to Moorsville and maybe Greenwood. I will have one child left at home and she will be a Sophomore in the fall so schools are very important. My wife and daughter think it would be neat to get out of the suburbs and closer to the city. We have been looking for a ranch on a basement under $250k or so. With all of that being said, what would be a good/safe place to look inside 465? I dont want to be to far east or north because of my drive to Plainfield. We still may end up in the burbs but I thought I would ask. Any advice on them would be appreciated too.

Also, does anyone know anything about Herron High School? My daughter loves art and found it online.

Thanks!!
Doug

How large of a house do you want? Speedway is pretty well-kept with decent schools, but houses are smaller.

We want 3/4 bed room, 2+ baths. We would like a big family room and kitchen also. What we want and what we can afford may not line up but it doesn't hurt to look. I realize if we were to move into the city, we would probably have to give up on the bigger rooms.

Wow house-indianapolis-basement don't really go hand in hand. One of the few areas would be some of the houses in Wayne township which is the west side. They are older and just west of 465 and close to your job and a lot of safe neighborhoods. Wayne township schools so ben davis or ben davis university. A realtor can help you out or checkout mibor.com to see what's on the market. As far as herron, several reputable sources has it ranked as the best public school in the metro and second overall after the international school. Tough to get into so fingers crossed. Check out the link for for best high schools and see where they all fall and you will not go wrong with herron.

As another option bdu works with vincennes univ. so ur daughter could graduate with a diploma and associates giving her and you a leg up for a ba and cost.

Yea, the ranch on a basement has been our search in the suburbs. I doubt city living would have a basement. If Herron is hard to get into, my daughter is probably out of luck. I'll have to see what else is out there.

Don't give up. My house on 10th right downtown has a finished basement as do a lot in Fall Creek Place. It all is what the people who built wanted to pay for.

Go to mibor.com and input NE downtown and your search criteria. There are some gems and some downright nightmares but I found one at 2214 N. Park and 2233 N. Delaware.

Herron High School was recently named a top 5 school in the state by a poll in the Washington Post.
