Is their any really good restaurants that have Irish food, or especially any grocery stores that do in Indianapolis? I've always lived in Kokomo, and we have some Irish restaurants but no grocery suppliers minus international isles in stores. My boyfriend will be moving from Ireland soon to Kokomo with me and was looking for a place to get that kind of food at around here. Thanks

Golden Ace is a neat little Irish dive.
Pat Flynn's Public House is supposed to be an Irish place.
Not Irish, Red Lion Grog House may be of interest?
O'Reilly's is downtown. They claim to be Irish, but they seem to me more of a place that is American with a few novelty Irish items...........maybe I am off base? I am not Irish, so I don't really know.

What would be some examples of Irish food and how are they cooked? The only Irish food I've ever heard of is potatos. Do they cook their taters different over there besides mashed, fried or baked? I never have heard of an Irish restaraunt before. I've heard of Irish pubs, but never an Irish restaraunt.

I've been to German restaraunts and Italian restaraunts, and I know there French restaraunts around, but I never have ate in one. I've ate in a Cajun restaraunt but that's different from genuine European French.

I'm just kinda surprised to hear there are ethnic Irish restaraunts around. I wonder if there's Scottish and English and Welsh restaraunts around also. I guess I never thought of that section of Europe as ethnic in the United States.

They don't really call them Irish restaurants. My girlfriend from England would say she is going to a pub. A lot of the English and Irish pubs serve foods from the same regions despite some of the different dishes like corn beef and cabbage or an English roast or full breakfast. Other than pub foods I wish we had the chippie shops over here. Chips and gravy..yummy. In England, there are some pubs that serve both English and Irish since there is a lot of Irish people living in the UK. The one I went to in Manchester was actually a buffet. My favorite Irish Pub is the Claddagh Irish Pub in downtown Indy in the Wholesale District. I've also been to the one in Plainfield at the Metropolis.

Claddagh address > http://goo.gl/maps/YCEYz (they even have a nice big fire place)

Since America is a very diverse country of immigrants you're going find various ethnic foods from around the world. I remember once eating at an authentic Dutch restaurant up in Holland,MI. It's similar to German but not exactly. On the northside of Indy there was a restaurant called the Russia House which served Russian food. I was curious to try it the food wasn't bad.

I always thought a pub was the same thing as a bar, or tavern, I never thought of it as a restaraunt. Now that I think of it, there's an Irish restaraunt or bar on the San Antonio Riverwalk. They play a lot of Irish music that the people sing along with. They have free peanuts and you're encouraged to throw the shells on the floor. I remember the floor being nearly completely covered with peanut shells. I forget the name of the place but I'm thinking it might be called O'Brians, and the color of the restaraunt sign is green, it was rustic looking inside, and it could be a chain. I was there only once and all I had was 3 or 4 beers and some free peanuts. It was kind of fun throwing the shells on the floor.

The peanut theme sounds interesting. I like restaurants that have their own off the wall unique theme to them. I remember once seeing a sign off the highway about a restaurant that throw dinner rolls at you to catch.
