Hey everyone. I'm a 27 year old male who is relocating to the Indianapolis area for a new job next month. The problem is that I'm not very familiar with Indy, and I have no idea where to start looking. The job is near IUPUI, so it's near downtown from what I understand. I'm a very simple person and it doesn't take a lot to make me happy. All I'm looking for is a decent studio apartment in a relatively safe neighborhood that won't leave me broke at the end of every month. Whether or not it's within the Indy city limits is irrelevant to me, but ideally I'd like to have a short commute everyday. This is my first time moving away from home which means that I'll be trying to get on my own two feet financially. I won't have that much money to spend, so I'm looking for a studio apartment with the bare necessities. Can anyone suggest some places to start looking?

Well bare necessities is a pretty broad category. Can you give us an actual budget?

I'm looking for something around 400 dollars or below. Like I said, I'm not that picky, but I also don't want the apartment to be a total dump in the middle of the ghetto or anything. I don't care what group of people I live around as long as long as I can do so safely.

Suggest a roommate situation. Check craigslist. A young friend rented in a woman's home until she could save some and check out the city for where she really wanted to live.
