We are are looking to relocate to the Indy area in a few months. We have visited (once) but have no clue what areas to look in for living there. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

We are a family of 6..so apt living isnt our thing..we definately want a house but not looking to buy just yet. We have 4 children..one in community college the other 3 are middle and elementary aged.

We dont need a specific location for jobs..I work from home We do however need a safe neighborhood thats family friendly and good schools!

Our children are bi racial so having diversity in the schools / neighborhood is a must!!

We are moving from AR where they have experienced racial issues almost daily Would love to find a place that they can feel more accepted. ANY info you could share would be so helpful!!

Thanks in advance!

Indy would not be my choice to move if you're biracial, at least not in some parts of town.

The north side would be OK as would parts of the west side, but I would avoid the south side and rural areas surrounding Marion County.

For instance, they call it "Whiteland" for a reason....

There are a lot of biracial people in Indy, even in the northern suburbs.

Many times, as I had relatives that lived in the Piccadilly.

I said the south side and rural areas were the ones to avoid.

The south side is diversifying. You see it happening in Perry Township and Franklin Township schools, even Greenwood. Whiteland is the boondocks.

If you can afford it, Carmel & Fishers. I'm partial to Carmel since we've lived there for a decade and love the community. Schools are AWESOME on the north side. Good luck!

Pike and Washington Township would meet your needs. The north/northwest sides of Indianapolis, but still in Marion county. Eastside has too much crime.

They are for the most part. Even Greenwood is becoming rather diverse with large populations of immigrants. So much so it's caused issues in the schools....

That's why I'm wondering from where in Arkansas she is coming. I might be able to offer some comparisons.
