Carmel came up as one of the best locations to raise family. I understand the county is very pro-Trump based on the election results. Are anti-Trump views at all respected there, or strongly attacked? That could be a serious considerations before relocating. Thanks for your views.

Seriously? 99% of the population doesn't give a rat's behind about your political views or who you sleep with. The problem starts when you start espousing your views and expecting special attention for them. Even with my friends that think like me, I generally avoid politics and religion as somebody's either going top get riled up or goes overboard.

This is exactly true. Best post I've read today.

This should be in the Indianapolis forum, not the general Indiana forum. Also, just search there for threads on political views. There was one quite recently specifically about Hamilton County and Carmel in particular.

If this is true, then it's one of the more depressing things I've ever read.

Probably pretty much like the life of a pro-Trump resident - with plenty of roundabouts

It's kind of like religious views to me.. don't try to force your view on everyone else and don't have an emotional breakdown when someone disagrees with you and you'll be fine.

People these days are acting like their political views are so precious to them that they have anxiety attacks when they are questioned.. this is nothing new.. people have been prone to have very strong beliefs throughout human history forced on them by whoever's in power at the time, but this is 2017.. the strength we have today is tolerance and the ability to have differing opinions and be able to respect each other's opinions without forcing them on anyone, expecting everyone to agree with us, and the like. Nonetheless the more extreme aspects of both parties will criticize the other party and get emotionally charged.

I would suggest not bringing up politics if you are a liberal in a hardcore conservative area. I live in a fairly conservative area in eastern South Dakota but most people I work with are fairly oblivious to politics and not extreme on any particular issue and don't trash democrats or anything.. I'd say they're fairly moderate. In fact the a sizable number support marijuana legalization vocally even though they vote republican.. I'd hope it's the same out there. Mostly they talk about what most people talk about, sports, sex, fishing, drinking... I'd suggest adopting the old saying "when in rome" and practice your belief system proudly in private.
