Hi all,

I'm looking for a 1 bedroom or studio apartment under $500.00 a month in MARION COUNTY Indiana. My needed city is Indianapolis, IN but since I have a "lower" budget I'm trying to be as flexible as possible. The only requirements I have is that the landlord takes tenants who make 2 times the rent, the building isn't government "affordable housing" (waiting lists) and it isn't a room for rent. Can you give me any leads?

Of course I've been on hotpads, apartments.com, forrent.com, walkscore.com and more and I've even been calling people from the lowest of the low, Craigslist. But I haven't found anything and at this point I only have 2 weeks left in my lease!!! So thanks for suggestions.

Try FaceBook marketplace. I see a couple on there for $500 or less.

Does IndyStar or Nuvo have any rental listings online?

Thanks! I hadn't heard of any of those so I'll look them up.

Does anyone know specific apartment complexes I can get into based on my first post? Apartment complexes you live in, know of or have heard about in Marion County? I've been searching so much but there are obstacles, mainly that I make two times rent and not three. Further help will be appreciated!

Hopefully I can help, I did a lot of apartment hunting about 8 months ago. Most likely, availability will be the biggest factor. Once people are in the low-rent units, they don't often leave. Also, this info is from 8 months ago, so maybe the rents have gone up since. But here's what I know:

Dogwood Glen (79th and Township Line) have studios that start at $475.
Turtle Creek (86th & Ditch) have studios that start at $515.
Westlake (Speedway area) have studios that start at $459 and 1Beds that start at $489.
Rosewood Commons (56th and Georgetown) have studios that start at $480.

I ended up taking a unit at Lake Castleton which wasn't the worst I'd ever seen but certainly not the best. Studios here start around $550, however - there's a huge upgrade/renovation project happening right now and most of the units are increasing by quite a bit.
