...which has the easiest commute downtown, better high school, lower crime and larger housing inventory under $350k?

Indy from A to Z!

Thanks.

I live in Avon and love it. Your real estate dollar will definitely go further here in Avon. Check out MIBOR.com, the Indy board of Realtors site (not my site) to get a feel for housing options and prices in each area. The schools are great, we just got word that most of the elementary schools have reached 4-star status, the schools website is avon-schools.net I think. There are plenty of restaurants, shopping, and it is a straight shot down Rockville Road into downtown Indy.

Default Thanks...

...is Rockville Road at 7:30 AM bumper to bumper, stoplight to stoplight at 25 to 30 mph? It would appear that driving east in the AM and west in the PM would be tough with the sunshine. At least that's what I have to deal with where I live now in MO.

Where in MO are you? I went to college in a tiny town on the western edge of MO.

Anyhoo... Yes, you have to drive with sunglasses on and maybe your sun visor down. You will have that issue anywhere on the west side of Indy of course. I do not travel on Rockville at 7:30 am. Gee, I don't travel ANYWHERE that early, but I have travelled it at about 8am, and had no problems. Sure it is more crowded that at 2 in the afternoon, but not bumper to bumper.

Maybe someone else who commutes from Avon to Indy can answer that better.

Honestly on the points you requested they are about even. The big difference is that Zionsville has a town square and kind of morphs out from there, though not to the extent Avon spreads over the western edge of Indy. Both are growing and have a variety of housing options and a pretty straight-forward commute to downtown that will require sunglasses and patience sometimes, snow tires and patience other times. But not by far to the extent seen in most bedroom communities.

I would give the edge to Zionsville on easy commute and schools. Crime rate I do not know...I am sure you find some stats somewhere but both areas are very safe. Housing under $350 goes to Avon, Zionsvillle can be quite pricey.
