Am moving out of state and hearing horror stories about all of the local
moving companies (through Angie's list). There is not one on the list that
stands out as being reliable. They've all had incidents of losing items, damaging
items or damaging the home. Does anyone know of a company that is consistently
good? Thanks!

I don't.

I think it all depends on who you actually get within a company. Some are good some are bad. My sister who has moved several times used to pretty much bribe the individual movers. Such things as buying them pizza, cool drinks - being extremely nice to them - she always said that made a huge difference.

Wow! Not that I mind feeding them and being nice, but it's sad that's what it takes
instead of the fact that you're paying them $7000! Thanks though.

We used Stuart's on Michigan. It was a corporate move and they were on the Lilly list and the big compliment given by the moving coordinator was that they had no complaints from all the moves that Stuarts had done for Lilly employees.

We used them twice and I cannot recommend them highly enough. On time and careful with our stuff. They got it there and back with no damage at all. Every single employee I met was kind, careful, and very professional. We filled an 18 wheeler (the biggest one they had) and all was fine.

I have absolutely no idea what they cost but they would be the first ones I call for a quote if I have a move.

That may make the boss or owner happy, but the workers who are actually moving your stuff, they don't care (generally speaking) what you are paying his company
