MapIndy

This link will take you to a picture of what Indianapolis looked like in 1937,1941,1956,1962,1972,78,79,86,91,93,95,97,99, 2000 and each year up until 2010.

Have to say the few things that remain consistant from 1937 until today is the Statehouse and the Soldiers and Sailors monument.

Enjoy this History right before your eyes

The Coolest part is watching Indianapolis explode in growth from the 1941 picture to the 1956 picture then again in the 60s then watch the downtown area stagnate in the 70s then explode in growth in the 80s till today

Move the Bar on the side of the screen from the map version to the picture or to the right.

its at the bottem of the drop down display for the years. there should be a little picture if you move it completely to the right it will wipe off the road map portion and give you Aerial photography.

Robert Kennedy Announcing the Assasination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Indiana 1968 - YouTube

Also take a moment to reflect on the History of Indianapolis.
Indianapolis was the ONLY major city that Did Not Riot after Martin Luther Kings Assassination.
Indianapolis is one of the most civilized cities in the nation and not having riots or civil disobedience is proof of that
God Bless Indy.

ahh..those 'planting areas' make sense now!! Sometime in 2005 and 2007 our future house had large trees come down - cool to see that on the maps, thanks!

Any memorable storms on the far west side that year?
