Wow, there are 6 elementary schools! I come from a town with one! I would appreciate some info on this town and schools. Thinking of a new job here. Thanks in advance.

Wanting clean, safe living and a good school for the kids... you know...

Here I am! I live and work in Avon and I love it. I have kids in the school system and have been very impressed with all the schools. I can answer all your questions about the town, and about finding a home here. So, what are your questions?

PS: I would have gotten to this post sooner, but I was at a closing with a buyer that I met here on C-D!

LOL, too bad we can't pay anyone without a license and a referral agreement. I could take you out for lunch though if you were closer to me.

I can't comment on the elementary schools, as my youngest is a junior at the high school, but I can say that we are *very* impressed with what we have seen so far relative to Avon's school system.

We came here from Florida but we're both native Hoosiers from the south side of Indianapolis, so we're products of the system - I think we can be pretty objective. I worked in the school systems in Florida for 8 years, so I have a little different point of view and am probably more critical than the average parent as well.

As for safe, well.....

We currently live in an apartment complex. FedEx left a package at our door the other day and it was there 5 hours after being dropped off.

My son says, "I can't believe how little crime they have here." We didn't live in a high crime area in Florida, but there was petty crime on occasion at this high school, similar in size and demographics to Avon HS.

As for realtors, we are using MikiJayne (who we met here) and all I can say is that she rocks!

If there is anything else you have questions about, let me know. I've only be here a few months, but I'll do the best I can.

RM

Depends. Avon proper covers a fairly large area. There are a lot of feeder roads that connect to major arterials, so once you get there it's not a difficult commute.

36 (Rockville Road) moves at a good pace in the morning heading east, so I would estimate that it might take you 15 minutes from SR 267 (about as far west as you can go without being in Danville) to I-465. I live near the intersection of Ronald Reagan Parkway and 36, and I would guess that it's about 10 minutes from there to I-465.

Understand that I-465 is being "reconstructed" on the west side, so traffic can be tough due to construction.

If you live in an outlying area away from 36, there are other ways to get to I-465 as well, some of which would be quicker than going to 36 and heading east.

Do you know where you would be commuting to in Indianapolis?

RM
