If you pop over to any of the General U.S. threads dealing with cities, you will find that Indianapolis has came up a few times. There was also a thread about what makes a city great.

Some things listed:
Economic Strength
Interesting Neighborhoods / Interesting architecture
Unique Cultural Attitude
Public Transportation System
Natural Beauty
Low crime/ safe communities
Clean and Healthy
Affordable housing
Diversity (ethnically, politically, religiously, etc)
Parks and recreation
Proximity to other metropolitan areas
Unique food (such as New York style pizza)

What does Indy need to work on, and what does it have enough of?
Or, what makes a city great to you? And does Indianapolis have it or not?

Well not just an Indy thing, but more of an Indiana thing.

Public transportation.

I think what I would like to see in Indiana is an interconnected railway system like Amtrak. Something you could get on in Fort Wayne and take to Indy, South Bend, Evansville, etc.. Just something like that, and if it connects to South Bend chances are you would be able to take it to Chicago, and if at all possible ride cross country. I would like that.

Indy needs to work on dropping its racist image. It needs to work on public transporation. It needs to work on increasing its cultural climate to attract more events.

Question: If you could revamp, refurbish or just plain upgrade and renew some small town in Indiana....What town would that be?
