I'm baaack...

We have located an apartment that is just minutes from work/shopping etc, a bonus with gas prices as they are. Its called Mohawk Hills and its right on a golf course in carmel, the rent is pretty reasonable and it "sounds" nice, but when I did some preliminary research it didn't seem to be reviewed very well at all.

Can *anyone* give me some up-to-date info on this place? I already have applied and been accepted (natch, before I heard the bad stuff...) but don't want to add insult to injury by pursuing it if its the equivalent to the slums of Carmel, for what its worth the address to the complex is 945 Mohawk Hills, Carmel.

Please help! Thanks, we are running into a time crunch as far as moving is concerned, so we need to make a decision...aargh

I can't speak for the complex itself, but, the area is certainly not a slum. Just keep in mind that the intersection it sits at; Keystone and 126th, is under major construction. I THINK 126th is closed at Keystone; and you have to detour over to Range Line Road to get to Keystone Ave.

I would not live there - those are probably the worst apartments in Carmel - sure the location is nice, but the actual apartments are old, run down and not in good shape. Plus they are set to be torn down in a coulple of years - which I guess is OK if you only plan on living there 6 or 12 months, but that also means the management co isn't going to put any money into them.

My best guess is people move into them just so they can have a Carmel address so their kids can be in Carmel schools. They aren't nice. I would look for other apts in Carmel, there are many within 5 minutes of there that are much nicer

If these are right against Keystone, there was a major news story about them being bought to be demolished. If there is a thought of that, I dont think they are going to invest any to fix them up.

Now there are some nice brick ones along 116th several blocks off Keystone that would be the same distance but in the opposite direction.

And yes, Keystone has now had major intersections closed for "remodeling" and it is expected to last until December.

That doesn't sound good, I work night shift so that would really be an issue...Thanks for the heads up!

I thought I read something about that when I was searching for info, we only plan on renting 6-12 months until we know where we want to buy, but we also don't want to live in a rat hole. The kids would be so thrilled to relocate 2 states over to a crappy residence

What is your price range, are you looking for a two bedroom. I looked at a few complexes before I moved in. So ask me any questions about carmel Apts

Well, we are only planning on renting for somewhere around 1 yr till we could buy so we didn't want to spend exorbitant amounts on an apt./house to rent. We want to stay below $1000/mo and need a 3 bedroom place. Doesn't seem to be too readily available and still somewhat close to the medical center.

We have looked at Carmel Woods, Carmel Landing , Carmel Knoll, Woods of Britton (Fishers) and the Mohawk place plus assorted private houses. Thanks for any info you may have :-)
