My family is thinking about relocating from IL to Fishers in the spring/summer. Approx. how much is pre-school 3x/wk for 1/2 days. We pay about $185 per month for one kid. Also I have been searching online about full day kindergarten but cannot find the answer. Any info on kindergarten would be great. i.e. cost, best schools, etc.

Thanks!

Fishers DOES NOT offer all day K in their public schools. There is no getting around it either. The Goddard School has all day K, but it costs big bucks. I'm sure there are others out there.

My oldest went to Goddard 3 days a week 1/2 day for pre/k and it was about 400 dollars a month. We just moved to Fishers, little did I know. My second daughter attended My Backyard Fine Arts preschool at Geist Sports Academy in Lawrence ... 3 days a week 1/2 days with lunch bunch on fridays and it was $200 a month.

There are a lot of options in Fishers, but as far as public all day K ... bupkis.

Is the half-day kindergarten a statewide thing, or just certain towns?

Varies from school system to school system. Carmel has a strange setup ... not sure if they still do this, but they had kindergartners go for 2 full days a week with a half day on friday. Fishers is 5 half days, am or pm. I think that some school districts have all day free kindergarten, but most that do offer full day K, the parents have to pay for it. Fully funded all day kindergarten was at the top of Mitch Daniel's list when he was elected for his first term and it's kind of fallen to the wayside. You also have to keep in mind that the state of Indiana DOES NOT require kindergarten.

Hmmm, that is so interesting. I have never heard of such a thing. I always thought it was required to go to kindergarten. Well thanks for the heads up about it.

Now preschool, anyone else have any thoughts on it? I prefer the Christian based preschools.

Thanks!

My son, now 11, attended pre-school three mornings a week at Allisonville Christian Church.

I seem to recall Carmel's "full day" program was 3K for the year.
