I know the economy is bad right now but does anyone know of any companies in Indy that are hiring? I will be relocating to Indy in a few months and I need a job. I'm looking for clerical/data entry positions. NO CALL CENTER JOBS PLEASE!!!

The company I work for is hiring; in fact I recently got a new job within my company. However, these positions are not clerical or data entry positions. That area of the company has shrank rather than grown.

I got several referrals from USAJOBS.com for Federal jobs when I came back to Federal service. Had three interviews before I took a job.

Even if you take a minimal job, the promotion potentials are huge. Being on the "inside" you get first chance at new or open jobs before they are advertised. Lots of promotion potential. I was a clerk, auditor, specialist, analyst, secretary and then management assistant before I recently retired.

The benefits and security are great.

Even the call center jobs are hard to come by here. Dont be picky otherwise you wont find anything. Clerical work pays $6-$7 per/hr here remember so a call center will pay more.

Every Oct. or so the IRS hires about 50+ call center people. All the Federal benefits for a seasonal position that can transition to a permanent job. Just a thought.

Hey Sweetana thank you for the info. I've been really trying to find a federal/government job. I've been wanting to get on w/ DFAS because I see that they always have openings. Is the application process pretty tedious? Does it take a while to get a reponse back once you apply? I've applied a few times for openings w/ DFAS but I get the same generic message saying they received my resume and that it will be on file for 90 days. Blah Blah Blah. It sounds like the federal jobs are very stable and have alot to offer. May I ask what federal agency did you work for?
