Unfortunately Indy is very lacking in good Middle Eastern restaurants for its size compared to close cities like Louisville, Cincy, Columbus, etc. I won't even mention Chicago or Detroit. The good ones I can think of are Al Basha which is in Fishers and Istanbul Cafe in west 86th st, they're not the best but its something. Besides Middle Eastern restaurants, there are plenty of good Indian places in Indy, the best one I've tried is in Greenwood, "Mumbai Grill" Lamb Baryani is my usual there! Also there is a fast food pizza place with Middle Eastern flavors, " Magoo's Pizza" near Lafayette Rd, I recommend trying the Chicken Tikka Pizza with garlic sauce.

There are several Persian restaurants. If you are used to eating home cooked persian food. You will be disappointed.

It appears some folks don't realize that persian food and regular middle eastern food are quite different.

There are actually a few middle eastern restaurants that are pretty good..

Saffron's Persian Restaurant Louisville, KY
There are several. Louisville has a much larger (but still smallish) Persian population than Indy.

In addition to Saffron's the following are run by Persian Immigrants:

Caspian Grill

Pesto's

Shiraz

Majid's...upscale American/Continental bu the shelf is a gourmet Persian named Majid....he can make whatever Persian food you want.

Persian food is the best and there is actually a sizeable persian population in Indianapolis but somehow there is no Persian restaurant. Indy lacks in Mediterranean Restaurants big time. I would say when you go to Chicago visit Reza's.
