Hello all, I'll be moving into the Indianapolis area in late May and I'm wondering what area might be good for me. This will be my first job out of college, and I'd still like to make some noise without a lot of families around to be bothered by my volume.

If I were 20 years younger and fresh out of college, I'd move to Broad Ripple or live somewhere downtown.

I agree--Broad Ripple is the place to be for young professionals not interested in "settling down" anytime soon!

Indy Areas
Broad Ripple is great, but it can be a bit pricey for what you get depending on how much you are looking to spend. Downtown and the Fall Creek revitalization area are great, but sometimes it is hard to find something freestanding within a reasonable price there.
I am 25 and I lived in Broad Ripple when I first moved down here. Everybody talks about all of the bars along BR Ave. and how great it is, but personally, I think unless you have just turned 21, it loses some of it's appeal...you know, party all the time? It has seemed to take a little bit of a downward spiral since I moved her 5 years ago, IMO. The downtown scene is way more appealing, I think. I live in Castleton, which is north of BR and south of Fishers. Love it, Love it!! You are about 20 minutes away from Downtown, 10 from BR and I have completely everything and anything that I want within 5 minutes. I live in a condo community on 96th St. and there are a lot of couples and single professionals where I live. I don't see many kids. I think 86th & Ditch (NW side) area is also nice. I used to live in the Meridian Hills area and I liked it really well because again, you are close to everything and can shoot down Meridian St.

Just wanted to second Broad Ripple for bars and socialization but Castleton and the ditch rd the realtor suggested are good too if you don't wan't a lot of noise etc. My son likes the area and is 27 and professional. His teacher girlfriend owns a home there. They are also members of some kind of young professionals org. that sponsors meet and greets and movie nights etc. Free tickets and hordervs. Hope someone can name it. He loves it and hears about all kinds of fun things to do for people just like you.

i am a young professional myself. i just moved to Fishers a month ago. i am having a bit of a hard time adjusting because of the slow pace. i went to college in Albany, NY and lived in lehigh valley of Pennsylvania. i really like Fishers and the North side of Indy. the one problem that i am having is just meeting like minded educated young professionals like me. i am going to reveal a bit about mysef. i am very open minded, i am african american and i am in my early 20's. anyone willing to be friend someone like me feel free to let me know or if you know somewhere i can go to socialize with responsible people i would appreciate that as well. thank you.

Im a young professional also in my 20's and am a pacific islander living in New Jersey right now. I am looking to move there next year and was wondering how you went about adjusting to the midwest life and if it was difficult. Is it nicer than the east coast?
