Plainfield- Cracker Barrel @ the 267/70 exchange is decent to d@mn good for the area even though it's a chain. The 'biker bar' across the street from same is even better but may not be your scene. Firehouse Bar & Grill on 40 next to the Fire/Police joint station is good but again may not be your scene. There's always BW3's in the target/kohls plaza across from Metropolis but it's always been pretty well packed when I've been there on the weekends
Avon- I have heard good things about Wings Etc. at Rockbvill & Raceway {Technically on the Indy side of Raceway but details, details} The absolute best place ever to get decent bbq in Avon used to be Mulligans in Prestwick but they were bought out a few years back.
