So my family is planning on moving from Bellingham, WA (lived here my whole life) to the Indy area in the fall..the cost of living is insane here and its finally worth moving away from it!! Yeah its pretty here, but who has the time to enjoy it when you have to work 3 jobs to be able to afford buying a house... How is the job market? I have a pretty decent job right now and am worried of the unknown. We love racing and are excited that it is a way of life out there. I am just a bit nervous about such a change. Where would people recommend us moving to? I keep seeing so many nice things said about the N/NW part of Indy..like the Brownsburg area..is it nice there? safe? Any input would be great. Thanks so much

Do you have a job? I would recommend you not come without one in place. Once you do, we can point you to an area(s) to live. There are a lot of threads directly on point so I am not going to repeat what has been said before.

Job market is just as bad as everywhere else. Northern Indiana has the highest unemployment in the country I believe.

If you want someone to discuss specifics, what is your occupation and experience?

If you are into racing, Avon or Brownsburg might be a good fit for you. Close enough to Speedway, and the O"reilly Raceway Park.

As glad as I am that you want to move to the Indy area, I cannot suggest moving anywhere without having the job first. Especially in this economy. The job market in Indy, Indiana, and elsewhere around the country is not good. Perhaps U should wait until the econ turns around. But if U like ato racing, Indy is definately the place to be!
