Hi all,

We are thinking of relocating to Indy...and a couple of other midwestern cities. i was wondering is flooding a major concern around Noblesville/Carmel etc? Is the White River the only concern? So... how often? The news tneds to concentrate on flooding in southern Indiana. Thanks to everyone who can give me some info/advice. Also, we are originally from FL so we realize there are natural disasters everywhere. We are just trying to do a pro/con thing. Thanks.

I've never heard of flooding being a serious or persistent problem in Hamilton County. Also, although there is some current development near the White River in the western portions of Fishers or eastern parts of Carmel, the vast majority of land and housing in the county is far enough removed from the river that it doesn't really affect anything.

Default Thanks for the response

Thank you two for posting a reply and for the info. We are just looking for the place place for our son to grow up. We are between a few midwestern places (Indy, Des Moines, Grand Rapids, etc) we will see. I am really interested to get to downtown Indy, we have heard great things about the Children's Musem and the park/zoo/everything! Looking forward to visiting soon.

Thanks
Tony

I have friends who relocated from Chicago to Des Moines (job thing) ... they had a heck of a time finding a good house in Des Moines because all the houses they liked were affected byt the flood a couple years ago. They ended up in Johnston, IA.

We lived in Fishers and never had an issue. The people who had to deal with it the most were those living on the White River.
