Washington Township and Lawrence Township schools are more diverse and have good ratings.

Thanks!!!
I would not say Indy is more as a whole, I would just say that Carmel is basically more than anywhere else. I would check Washington Township Schools.

Hello..I recently moved to Indy after about 10 years in Pittsburgh. I loved Pittsburgh and am enjoying Indy so far. They seem pretty close as far as cost of living. Pittsburgh has many really cool unique neighborhoods and I think Indy will feel the same once I have been here longer (I am buying a house in the meridian-kessler area of town soon, which has washington township schools, mentioned above, as an option for kids).

won't you need to pay tuition to send kid to Washington Twp from MK?

I also think this area is IPS. If you go just north of MK, north of the river, I think you might enter North Lawrence school district. The area right around the intersection of Meridian-Kessler though, I'm pretty sure will put you in either Broad Ripple or Arsenal Tech school districts.

I'm not sure...our realtor said that kids where we will be living can go to either IPS or WT but I don't know if you have to pay tuition...

Realtors lie. None of M-K is in the Washington Township school district. They do accept some transfers, but the numbers are limited, and you will have to pay tuition. MSD Washington Township > (http://www.msdwt.k12.in.us/about/NonResident.html - broken link)

Pittsburgh probably has more culture than Indy. I am originally from the east coast and Indy lacks a lot of culture. Hence the reason why you will see 95% chain restaurants here and MANY MORE fast food joints here than anywhere else (also why Indiana is one of the fattest states). But Carmel, Fishers and Zionsville are nice :-) If you stay in Indy stick with Washington Twp. schools. Indiana schools in general do not rank up there AT ALL with the good public schools of the east and west coast. Good luck though! :-)
