New PC with windows 7 64 bit using IE8
Downloading and updating alot of programs. No problems.
But trying to get flash 10.1i aka 10.1,82,76 to work. Got activeX installed, got 'installed successfully' Have 4 files in ...\syswow64\macromed\flash10.1
Problem- flash not recognized, sometimes, never. Some sites, not all. Went to a site that where flash works, right clicked for settings. Opened page for settings and even Adobe page says I needed to install Flash to make make changes. Flash does not work on a majority of sites that use flash. Uninstalled and re-installed many times. Works sometimes at mail.yahoo but when it doesn't IM box won't open with a 'you need flash 9'. Now I don't even get that message. There is no IM box.
I have flash 10.1h on old PC with XP and it works fine.
Thought it was just my problem but visited numerous sites and forums where people have the same problem with 'fixes'.
Anybody else having the same problems?
Anybody know of a simple fix?
Can I uninstall 10.1i on new PC, make copy of 10.h from XP and install on new PC? Will the 64 bit stop it from working?

Are you using the 32 bit or 64 bit version of IE8? Windows 7 64 bit comes with both, for flash content you must use the 32 bit version, the 64 bit version has no flash support.
