Has anyone tried to use a USB WiFi antenna to pick up public signals? I have been looking at some called yagi and cantanna, but am somewhat sceptical.

USB-Yagi High Power Plug & Play WiFi antenna +28dBm II - eBay (item 320337597690 end time Sep-02-10 21:30:00 PDT)

Something like that.

What about the oter ones sold on Amazon?

I have also read about people who make their own with success, but I would rather buy one, as long as the results are good

Thanks!

Don't waste your money on an ebay antenna, mate. If it's a wifi antenna you want that actually works buy one from the C.Crane company. We use two Crane antenna's when we travel (one on the road & one at home) and find them to do a great job of signal capture.

Tip: check out their "Orphans" (link in top bar of page) to find any product they sell at a discount since all are certified returns.
