The LVRJ had a great article in today's paper on computer security - - specifcally flash cookies and how to rid your computer of them. I don't know about you, but I had never heard of flash cookies and thought when I routinely deleted cookies from my hard drive that that was all that I needed to do. Little did I know! But at least I'm not alone; the LVRJ contacted ten computer repair firms and nine of them were unaware of these cookies.
I strongly urge you to read the linked article and to take corrective action to remove your unwanted flash cookies.
Note to Mod: Although not technically about Las Vegas itself, this article on computer security is from the LVRJ, so that at least tangentially would seem to make it board-related. Moreover, it is an important subject and may be of great benefit to the posters here.

They do, in the box on the left side. I just installed the add-on and it found 280-something LSO's. It searches and defeats everytime you close Firefox. Great add on so far. I also adjusted my settings in the Flash Player.
I tried to get the add-on and it told me the site was harmful and not trusted. But i did delete a lot of sites I didn't want. But it's time consuming.
Are you using a PC or Mac?
If a PC, the site that is offering the add-on is the actual Mozilla/Firefox website so it shouldn't be harmful or not trusted. Did you get the "harmful or not trusted" message from the site that is actually providing the add-on?
If using a Mac, I've talked to other Mac users who have used that machacks.tv site with no problems.
There are lawsuits being tested in Federal court right now against the creator of the technology (Quantcast) as well as some big name corporations who were data mining and selling personal info (allegedly).
I use Firefox on a PC and when I downloaded the add-on, Firefox said I had 640 LSOs! All of the instructions from Firefox advise deleting them sparingly to avoid deleting ones that are necessary. I was never given that choice, however. When shutting down Firefox, I just get a box that allows me to delete all the zombie cookies (press OK), or carry over the zombies to the next Firefox session. No means of going through them one-by-one is offered.
I went for broke and deleted all the LSOs. I was expecting trouble, but so far all of the places where I was registered for regular use, such as my bank and City-Data, allowed me full access to the site -- I didn't even have to do a new log-in, let alone re-register. The only issue I've encountered so far -- once when I tried to read a full article linked to Huffington Post, I was refused a connection.
Now I'm in the process of signing off Firefox each time I look at a Website, to see where my flash cookies are coming from. My bank leaves two; my Yahoo E-mail account, the New York Times, Internet Movie Database, Slate, and Huffington Post leave four each; Wonkette leaves two. The record is Salon. I went there and read a single article in a Delaware newspaper via a link. I came away with 14 LSOs! Google search, the Los Angeles Times, City-Data, the Food Network recipe site, and my state's general information site left NONE. I have yet to do any shopping online. My suspicion is shopping sites will leave a lot, but who knows?
