Just the other day, I received a phone call from some fellow that sounded to be half way round the other side of the world. I was told that my computer at this number, that was connected to broadband, had viruses, and he directed me to go and switch it on while I was on the phone to him. I told him that it hadn’t got viruses because it was brand new, he said “it has got viruses”, I told him I hadn’t got the time to do this right now. He told me that my anti-virus software only lasts for twenty hours, I told him it lasts for 60 days. I then told him which anti-virus software I would be using after the trial ran out, and he said, “Goodbye”.

What trouble these con artists will go to, to hijack a computer, is endless.

My old Dad just got conned a few months ago by another such caller, this one pretended to be working for the phone company, within a few minutes of that call, money transfers had been set up to go all over the world.

Do you ever get these phone calls?

Should the phone companies allow them to go through?

Nothing new, doubt there's anything the phone companies can do. If you think yours was bad read this one. Scammed pensioner told heavy rain caused computer virus infection | Naked Security

If you think that is the solution to the problem, then they need gazillions of *monitors* who are constantly listening in on ALL conversations.

Is that what YOU want ???

In essence, IF you fall for that kind of nonsense, you asked for it.
What do they say ??? *A sucker is Born every second*.

Last but not least, *listening in on phone conversations* is already going on, but they are listening in on specific people.

*Big Brother Watching*, is NOT a joke !!!

I never answer my phones unless I know the person who is calling. If it's important they can leave a message (they never do).

You ever piick up the phone when it rings and say, "Hello" and get nothing? You just confirmed (to a computer dialing system) that your phoone number is active. Expect a flurry of calls from telemarketers.
