Yeah, i've gotten about 4 of them from four different companies i use.
I will just make sure if i do get any emails from any of them in the future, that i wont open any links and give any personal info (which i wouldnt do anyway).
We have been informed by Epsilon, a provider of Company ABC's email marketing services, that your email address was exposed due to unauthorized access to its systems. Company ABC uses Epsilon to send marketing communications on our behalf.
Epsilon has assured us that the information exposed was limited to email addresses, and that no other information about you or your account was exposed.
As always, you should be cautious when opening email links or attachments from unknown or suspicious parties, or emails purporting to be from Company ABC and asking for financial or account password information. It is our policy to never ask for this information in emails. If you receive such emails, do not reply to them. You can report suspect or unwanted emails to Company ABC at abuse@Company ABC and can obtain more information on how to protect against spam and phishing attacks on Company ABC's Privacy Policy page by clicking on "Tips for Guarding Your Information" located at the top right hand corner of the page. What gets me is, how can a company whose database has been compromised/breached can guarantee anything? E-mail based data is on a separate or less secure database? Give me a break!
Another kicker is, most if not all of these companies, you had an online account with, were probably already sharing/selling your marketing related data with others anyhow.
Needless to say, reporting those unwanted e-mails to Company ABC is likely to be a waste of time.Examples like this shows you how secure your online data is.
