But-but-but, it looks so official!
I mean every legitimate banking organization has a yahoo email address, right?
And it SAYS it's secure, so it must be true.
I just wish there was a convenient attachment to go with it.

I received notice yesterday that my MEGA-BAZOOKA lottery ticket was a BILLION dollar winner...

Last week I had one from a COCA-COLA executive saying I had won another BILLION dollars--I didn't know Coca-Cola uses HOTMAIL.COM for their official email!?

I got an actual letter today, something related to an ebay class action settlment, with a check include for my portion, $.15, gave me almost as good a laugh.

Don't spend it all in one place That's actually a real check. Anybody who sold on eBay motors during 2007-2009 (I think, not positive of the time frame) got a settlement for final value fees paid. I got a big $29.00. Now I can get that new Jeep Grand Cherokee I've been looking at

The ACH ones almost got me, since I do a lot of ACH transactions. Fortunately I noticed the attachment before opening it.

Bet the lawyers check was a bit higher, perhaps 8 decimal places higher.

I received notice of a Netflix settlement in the works. I checked it out and it's legit. I'm expecting a check for $.01 sometime in 2016.

Best scam ever was the email I got from a hitman that told me someone put a hit out on me.
He was from Russia and his boys were going to come get me unless I paid him more then the person who put the hit on me did.
I actually replied to that one.
He claimed to know everything about me, but of course not one personally identifiable mention in the email.
So I wrote back:
"O you have been watching me, eh? Then you know I am a cop with the Cincinnati police department? You know I have a collection of guns in my home including my new pride and joy, the AK47SU that I just picked up?
Come get me mother -0------"

Yea, I never heard back.

You were lucky. Most class-action settlements don't distribute any money at all, except in the form of discounts on future service contracts. The lawyer gets 30% of $10-million, and the class of litigants gets 15 cents each, and the company is driven into bankruptcy and lays off all its employees.
