When Yahoo "upgraded" recently it became almost impossible for me to get into my email. I have to sit through a long series of things like 1.ying.com or something and so on and so forth. Then it stops and says DONE. but then it starts up again with all these things that it's waiting for or something.

Finally when it stops I click on an email and it sends me right back to the opening page where I have to start over.

Now I'm having the same trouble in Hotmail.

I've cleared the cache, used ccleaner, adaware, superanatispyware. I have plenty of memory space so what's going on? I don't want to waste all this time just trying to open one email message.

I use Firefox and windows. If it's flash or something like that, I am clueless.

Thanks for any help.

This could be anything. Pretty much anymore, when you log into an account on the web somewhere, there are a dozen ore more 3rd party "hooks" that come with that log on -- analytics, web beacons, trackers, you name it. One way to speed things up is to block these. Use your favorite search engine and look up using your hosts file to block tracking and ads. It's a simple enough thing and negates the necessity to have add ons and other things in your browser which consume more RAM and lessen your experience. Using the hosts file to block junk on the WWW works like a charm and you never have to worry about add ons breaking with browser updates or perhaps buggy add ons that may compromise your privacy.

Because of the prominence of the ads, it seems to me that Yahoo's new email is slower...

I've noticed a slowdown in hotmail myself. When will these sites realized that "new and improved" or "upgraded" means a downgrade for everyone with less than the fastest internet connection? Utterly, utterly stupid thinking. Earthcam is going the same route. First they have to load THEIR viewer, now, the major cameras at major locations are high definition and inaccessible, even with satellite connection. Just how stupid are these twits?
