maybe because the average home users are already used to the Windows environment and are afraid to transition over to having a MAC?
I am a Windows and Linux girl all the way!!
Eh? People don't transition to Macs because they don't like them; thus why the small minority that do continue to try and defend their "superiority" while purposely ignoring the simple fact that the majority of folks think they suck and won't buy them!
We got that message a few months ago. Both me and my bf are in the IS field, and we're the kind of people who don't buy cable tv, and instead use the computer as our media server for everything we need. I noticed we started getting that message after we bought yet another device that can jump on our wifi (10+). So even though we had a router, we thought that maybe, in some backdoor kind of way, TWC could see all these devices using the modem, and the amount of broadband we were using and was being a nazi about it.
We asked one of our friends who works for TWC if this could possibly be the case. He said no. And if we were sure that we didn't have any malware on the machine (we were 100% sure), then to have TWC check if we needed a new modem. Turns out the modem we had, never gave us any issues, and it was about 7 years old. Our friend pretty much laughed at us for having such an old piece of equipment and said to trade it in for a new one.
We did and the issue stopped.
PS. The first thing we did when we noticed the message (I saw it on my smartphone first) was to call TWC and ensure the message was indeed from them.

Reason: added ps.
Honestly. Get a Mac and get rid of the PC. It was the best choice I ever made. You'll never have to worry about a virus again.
Not a useful or relevant solution, nor is it on topic. You'll find these types of responses will not be looked upon favorable here in threads where people are looking for Windows assistance, so keep your Apple suggestions to yourself unless they are applicable.
