Please define "everyone".....

As a heavy user of both pre and post Microsoft versions Skype with family members neither myself nor any family member has noticed any degradation, if anything the video and voice have gotten more stable.

Since calling regular telephone lines costs $ over Skype if anything the NSA crowd is laughing at you...

I wouldn't say destroyed, but the ads have certainly gotten worse since MS took over.. IMO.
