How many of you have edited a Wikipedia page?

Fairly often, when I read a Wiki article and want further information about something, I look it up elsewhere, and then edit what I've found into the article. A few times I've found errors and corrected them. Sometimes I even go in and clean up language or correct typos.

In once case, I added several paragraphs of historical background to a city's page, and the nazi who created the original page kept deleting what I had added. After about 3 times, he finally gave up.

I've edited one page once on topic I have a lot of knowledge about, anthracite coal. These edits were for non controversial numbers related to sizing which is particular to business I've been involved with 20 years and my family has been involved with for nearly a century. This would be information from the horses mouth so to speak. They were promptly reverted by someone and that was the end of my Wiki career.

I regularly update pages in my field. Most of the people who update these pages are people I'll usually meet at conferences or talks. The field is a small community.

Well there's a good reason...

Far be it for anyone except the WikiNazis to know what is true and what should be seen as true.

I have an account at Wiki & have edited at least one page (and maybe a few more, but only piffle like wikiquote for "Spaced" and listing guest stars for L&O eps.).
Did once upload a photo to WikiCommons, was real impressed w/myself for even figuring out how to do that.

Making alterations to wiki pages is way too hard for me, though-the amount of bureaucracy/hurdles on a technological level (faqs just for how to use the faqs) was far too overwhelming, "formatting" confuses the heck outta' me.
Required too much "insider" knowledge, not "user-friendly" the way I define it.
So I did a few things a few years ago, then abandoned further attempts to contribute/participate.

There really is no way around the formatting other than a slick UI using JS like the one here but that has pitfalls too.
