Hi - Time passes quickly. I thought my modem was a year old. Turns out it's 3 years old. I'm with Cox Communications. They offer a Docsis 3.0 router/ 802.11 modem combo at their store ($129) so I can take advantage of the 50 MBPS I'm paying for... Currently I'm only getting 25 MBPS with this old modem and I have an Apple Router that's 2 years old. I'm guessing theirs is a motorola, which seems to be a good brand. So the question: is there a better option?
Combo devices are not recommended (already some threads on here discussing it). In the long run you're better of buying your own modem and router, the modem will pay for itself in about a year depending on the rental fee. Cox should have a list of compatible modems.
