I've always used Firefox and always keep current with all the updates.
Up until today, whenever I opened Firefox, I had the choice of using the Google search bar (my choice) as the main box on the middle of the page directly above the Fox image to search with. I could also use the smaller search bar in the upper right hand corner (I always had mine set for Wikipedia) to use a different search engine of my choice for a completely different search. One window, two choices.
This always worked fine, even on a previously opened Google search window's results, it would then open that current window to my new wiki search results.
A few hours ago, I noticed that whatever engine was selected for the smaller window was now used for the main search bar above the fox. I now am limited to the same engine in both bars. To change my main engine, I now have to choose my search engine from the drop down list, close Firefox, then reopen it. I Did I do something to change this while I was typing in the smaller box?
Thanks in advance.

I just noticed the Fox is above the Google search bar not below it and came back here to correct that!. I am now downloading a fresh copy of Firefox to see if that helps.

Well the download didn't help any, hopefully it will fix itself or I'll just have to get used to it!

One way to sort of restore what you had is to change FF's "start/home" page to Google's home page www.google.com
Go to FF's Preferences/General, change the "Home Page" setting from "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" to www.google.com

Then when you launch FF, it will be at the Google search page, you can have the toolbar search box set to WK. And you can jump back to Google by hitting the toolbar's little house button on the far right.

Thanks reed303. I got a little different start page than I've been used to (no Fox image), but the main page does open up to Google. Alas, when I reopen Firefox, my toolbar search box keeps the the last engine setting intact!
Thanks for the "little house button" tip as well. That will definitely come in handy.
