Has anybody else noticed that there are some areas that Google just ignores when sending out Streetview cars to take pictures? My nomination for the biggest black hole in Streetview (at least for the US) would be the entire Hi-Line Area of Montana and North Dakota. Basically the entire area along US Highway 2 from just west of Minot ND, all the way to the Rocky Mountains. With the exception of I-15 and a few roads near Glacier National Park, all of the Streetview along that strip are worthless low resolution images from 2008 and 2009. Even then only the major streets/roads are covered.
Williston ND, a pretty good size town, which is in the middle of a massive oil boom, has only the major routes through town covered. To make it worse, the town has experienced a good 30% or 40% population growth since those images were taken. So those Streetviews are like ancient history now.
I would expect that Google can't ignore the North Dakota Oil Patch for much longer. Since they have updated most of the rest of North Dakota in the last year, they probably already have the cars out there. But good luck to Montana. Most Montanans will probably die of old age before they will ever see a Streetview car in their town.
So does anybody know some other interesting places that Google Streetview ignores?
