Everything I've seen shows that youtube conversations are MORE meaningful to their customers than they ever were. This is a good example of a company taking the extra step to provide a better value to their customers.

I loathe Google+ and the fact that they forced people to create a gmail account or associate their existing one to their YouTube account! Talk about monopoly!
Not a single, normal person I know likes the stupid Google+.

If it wasn't for Google Voice, I'd have also said "F U" to gmail/YouTube!
Still debating though.

Forced is right, in another thread on here I noted that they are actually canceling some people's youtube accounts if they don't tie it to a g+ account. Basically they are giving the giant middle finger to its user base, saying, "You WILL use, or you won't have at all." I fell victim to this myself and have not been able to log into my youtube account for a few months now, and I have given up on it. It kind of sucks that I no longer have easy access to alot of the entertainment I used to, but at the same time I am too lazy to go resub to everyone I was subbed to. Google keeps pulling stuff like this and they will soon find themselves losing people.

I had a real panic last night. I decided I wanted a Spanish Language e-mail provider, so I opted for peru.com. I went through the whole registration procedure, no problems, and got the confirmation message saying "Congratulations, welcome to G-mail". G-mail? Yup.

OK, no big deal. So a little later I go to YouTube, and guess what -- all my Playlists have disappeared. It turned out (after a titanic panic attack) that my default Google+ account had been switched, and every time I want to go to my YouTube playlists, I have to click the upper-right blue icon and switch it back to my preferred account ID, and sure enough, xxx@peru.com is now listed as one of them. No matter what you do within the Google system, tentacles follow all the way back, and trigger everything Google wants to do with you. And you don't know you are even in the Google system.

With no prior warning, I registered for an email account with a provider that seemed to be in South American, and as soon as I clicked the "I agree" button, I got swallowed up in the gaping maw of Google, with no possible escape, and everything I do in that account will be sold by Google to the highest bidder.

Just for fun, go to http://peru.com/ and see if you can see any warning that you are actually in Google.

The clearest indicator for me was the following text after signing up (before I could even access email). It's up to peru.com how the google services are used. Not google.

For some services, Google provides tools to filter out adult sexual content, including our SafeSearch preference settings (see http://www.google.com/help/customize.html#safe). In addition, there are commercially available services and software to limit access to material that you may find objectionable.
You agree that you are responsible for your own conduct and any Content that you create, transmit or display while using Google services and for any consequences thereof. You agree to use Google services only for purposes that are legal, proper and in accordance with the Terms and any applicable policies or guidelines. You agree that you will not engage in any activity that interferes with or disrupts Google services or servers or networks connected to Google services. You understand that the technical processing and transmission of Google services, including your Content, may involve (a) transmissions over various networks; and (b) changes to conform and adapt to technical requirements of connecting networks, devices or services.
You also understand and agree that your domain administrator may have access to your account and its content, and may suspend or terminate your account access and your ability to modify your account.

GENERAL PRACTICES REGARDING USE AND STORAGE
You agree that Google has no responsibility or liability for the deletion or failure to store any Content and other communications maintained or transmitted by Google services. You acknowledge that Google may have set no fixed upper limit on the number of transmissions you may send or receive through Google services or the amount of storage space used; however, we retain the right, at our sole discretion, to create limits at any time with or without notice.

LINKS
Google services may provide, or third parties may provide, links to other World Wide Web sites or resources. Google may have no control over such sites and resources and you acknowledge and agree that Google is not responsible for the availability of such external sites or resources, and does not endorse and is not responsible or liable for any Content, advertising, products, or other materials on or available from such sites or resources. INDEMNITY
You agree to hold harmless and indemnify Google, and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, employees, advertisers, licensors, suppliers or partners, (collectively "Google and Partners") from and against any third party claim arising from or in any way related to your use of Google services, violation of the Terms or any other actions connected with use of Google services, including any liability or expense arising from all claims, losses, damages (actual and consequential), suits, judgments, litigation costs and attorneys' fees, of every kind and nature. ANY MATERIAL DOWNLOADED OR OTHERWISE OBTAINED THROUGH THE USE OF GOOGLE SERVICES IS DONE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION AND RISK AND THAT YOU WILL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER SYSTEM OR OTHER DEVICE OR LOSS OF DATA THAT RESULTS FROM THE DOWNLOAD OF ANY SUCH MATERIAL.
NO ADVICE OR INFORMATION, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, OBTAINED BY YOU FROM GOOGLE OR THROUGH OR FROM GOOGLE SERVICES SHALL CREATE ANY WARRANTY NOT EXPRESSLY STATED IN THE TERMS.

NOTICE
You agree that Google may provide you with notices, including those regarding changes to the Terms, by email, regular mail, or postings on Google services.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Entire Agreement. The Terms (including any policies, guidelines or amendments that may be presented to your form time to time such as Program Policies and Legal Notices) constitute the entire agreement between you and Google and govern your use of Google services, superceding any prior agreements between you and Google for the use of Google services. You also may be subject to additional terms and conditions that may apply when you use or purchase certain other Google services, affiliate services, third-party content or third-party software.

Choice of Law and Forum. The Terms and the relationship between you and Google shall be governed by the laws of the State of California without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You and Google agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located within the county of Santa Clara, California.

Waiver and Severability of Terms. The failure of Google to exercise or enforce any right or provision of the Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. If any provision of the Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the parties nevertheless agree that the court should endeavor to give effect to the parties' intentions as reflected in the provision, and the other provisions of the Terms remain in full force and effect.

Statute of Limitations. You agree that regardless of any statute or law to the contrary, any claim or cause of action arising out of or related to use of Google services or the Terms must be filed within one (1) year after such claim or cause of action arose or be forever barred.
The section headings in the Terms are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect.

Google has made its services available to organizations using Google Apps. In addition to the core suite of messaging and collaboration applications, you may access many Google services ("Additional Services") using your xxx@peru.com account. Your peru.com administrator determines which Additional Services you may access using your account. For tips about using your new account, visit the Google Help Center.

Please be aware that when you use Google services, your domain administrator will have access to your xxx@peru.com account information, including your email. You can learn more here, or by consulting your domain administrator's privacy policy, if one exists. You can choose to maintain a separate account for your personal use of any Google services, including email. If you have multiple Google accounts, the username that appears at the upper right corner of most Google services will help you ensure that you're using the intended account.

The Additional Services are provided by Google to you under these terms of service and privacy policy. Certain Additional Services may also have service-specific terms. If your domain administrator enables any of the Additional Services, Google will treat your use of any of the Additional Services as acceptance of the applicable service-specific terms.

Click "Accept" below to indicate that you understand the changes to your account and agree to the Google Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy for your use of Additional Services.

Just yesterday I was reading lifehacker.com and there is a article posted by one of their members on a "workaround" for this problem with youtube. But I don't know if it works. It's not a problem for me however, because I don't post comments on their videos.

I used to have some wonderful and informative exchanges in the comments section of YouTube video but now that's all gone.

What they are trying to do is simple. They have 50,000 employees, and a gazillion dollars. They have to keep all those people busy doing something, whether it's right, wrong, good, or bad. If they mess something up in the process, they can keep some other people busy trying to fix it. Thats why they don't care about breaking things.

I think to understand what Google wants to do with YouTube, you have to look back to the original Google Video, which predated their purchase of YouTube. It was a basic video uploading service. The page consisted of one large video player and a very primitive small little commenting area, which wasn't really used much, and nothing else. Which is what Google wanted it to be. But it was boring, so no one used it. Instead everybody went to YouTube, because that was where the community was. Which left Google with no other choice but to buy out YouTube. Since then, they have been trying to convert YouTube into Google Video, by trying their best to shake off all the community crap, that they don't want.

Google wants YouTube to be a video delivery platform. They don't want a community on it. They just want people to use YouTube to watch videos and the Google ads along with them. Just like TV.

Personally, I don't think it's a very good business plan, but thats what they want to do. For that matter almost every other video site on the internet is following the same plan.
