I've read that you put an @ into a tweet to say only that person and you can read that tweet. But I see that symbol in people's tweets and I can read it. Is that not what an @ is for in twitter?
It seems more to be used for links in a tweet. Like you can say @cnn.com and that makes it clickable.
When you @ someUser, the only people who see the message are the people that follow you and follow the person you are @-ing.
So, if you write, "@cooldude you are one cool dude!" The followers who don't follow @cooldude don't see the message.
