http://www.mappingsupport.com/p/gmap4.php gives a choice of a number of maps. Downside, no search, you have to find it yourself. Upside, the maps are much, much more printer-friendly than Google Maps.
Another mapping strategy is to look up a place on Wikipedia, then click on the coordinates in the upper right. You'll be given a menu of several dozen maps to open. Including coll things like a night-lights map, and a utility map you can draw on before printing.
