I am looking for web conferencing appliance that is reliable especially with security concern. I am a lawyer by profession and sometimes I need web to discuss my cases. Can anyone recommend any software/hardware combination appliance that would suit my needs? Thanks in advance.

Anymeeting is free for the basic service (supported by ads though). There's also talkfusion, and the big corporate staples webex, gotowebinar, and gotomeeting.

All of these are simply SaaS/cloud products so you don't need any infrastructure.

As for security - most should provide end to end encryption of the actual session. But you may want to verify with the vendor to make sure your requirements are met.

He's right. ANy modern one has secure socket connections so no worries about security. For a business I would NOT use a free one, though.

*TIP*

Sign up for Gotomeeting. They have a 30-day trial. At the end of the 30 day trial cancel your membership. Right before you say "Yes, I wish to cancel" they will jump up with a reduced price if you pay for a year in advance. Big saving, nearly half price.

I've been looking at this to use as chatroom on my own site, one reason being they already have integration with phpBB user database. You'd need your own server and root access to install it and presumably your own SSL certificate or it's going to throw warnings.

Your whole communication to and from the server is always encrypted. This encryption is mandatory and cannot be disabled. The so-called control channel, which transports your chat messages and other non-time critical information, is encrypted with TLS using 256 bit AES-SHA. The voice channel carrying speech and positional audio is encrypted with OCB-AES 128 bit. You and the server authenticate to each other using digital certificates like they are used for secured connections in Web-browsers.
I've been using the free version of Ventrilo for another purpose but that only supports 8 people and I don't know if it's encrypted. The pro version is really unavailable for anything except users on massive scale well beyond my needs so unfortunately I can't use it.

We use Gotomeeting at work as well. MOST of the time, it works pretty well, although we did have some issues with it the last time.
