Thank you for reading my mind!!!!!! If ever someone programs (or has programmed) a browser plugin to eliminate these "slideshows," please, do point me to it.

I can only think of one answer: whoever benefits from getting a high click count. Might be an search-engine optimization thing (?)
The worst thing about those is when you go to hit the back button. You've got to go through all the pages you just went through to get back to where you were.

Hold your back button down long enough to show history and click on the starting page ( or whatever page you want)
These type of sites or article irritates me as there are lots of searching & scrolling. If the subject is at all interesting I might do a web search and find a better site with similar information, but avoid these type of sites. I am a designer and so don't waste much time on these stuff.

Yes, I know that already. However, the history that pops doesn't go back far enough. Got to do that multiple times to get back. Instead, I always try to open those kinds of pages in a new tab so I can jus close the tab
Forbes and MSN have a bad habit of those slideshows. I avoid them because they are a waste of my time.
I wonder if the people who click through all 10+ pages minus those who don't read the article but would have if they didn't have to click, results in that great of a net benefit.
Probably shouldn't be adding this on as it's a different thing but is a similar annoyance.
I've been running across some sites where the scroll bar arrow disappears every time you remove the cursor so can't use the up/down arrows and must resituate the cursor on it every time.
What's the point of that?
Also, any instant popup when i go to a site is immediately closed and ignored.
Advertisers just don't get it; the more they try to cram stuff down my throat the less I actually see or hear.
