Top stories often has posts from days ago. I always choose most recent. Last time I used facebook on my phone, the most recent setting was well hidden. It was there, though. I don't know now because I don't use it on my phone anymore.

I've set my Facebook to Do Not Disturb. It thinks I live in Amsterdam and puts up advertising in Dutch.

The single most irritating FB crap for me is the "People you may know" feature and I cannot find a way to turn it off.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, I do not see *Top Stories*.
I have a right hand column that says *Trending*.
On the left I have a column, like *a menu*.

In the middle a double wide column, that has the things I chose to see.
Those are usually posts from my family and VERY dear friends.

If I want to know what everybody else is up to, I drop down on *Notifications*

I also almost never see "People you may know" ... ,
unless I am looking for somebody (Find Friends).
I very seldom look for Friends, since for some reason,
those who think I am a friend or possible friend, *find me* ...

So, somewhere I am at a loss about obnoxious things on FB ...

Most likely an active marketing decision by FB. Increases time on site and gives more control to them.

I figured out why I do not see *Top Stories*.

Mine says *Recent Stories* and very vague light blue, it says *Back to Top Stories* ...

Facebook itself is one huge marketing platform and we are all willing participants.

I don't want to quit FB, I like keeping up with faraway relatives and friends. I just try to keep as much privacy locked down as I can.
