I'm currently using At&t DSL, but I'm planning on moving to a larger city in a few days. Does anybody know if I can just simply unplug my equipment and plug it back up at my new place and that'll be it?
No you would likely have to purchase service from whatever provider is in the new city that you're moving to. You can use your same router though once your service has been set up.
Is AT&T available in the new city? Is the new house / apartment already setup for AT&T DSL?. If yes to both of these: maybe (of course you'll still have to call AT&T to initiate the move).
If AT&T provides service in your new location you may qualify for a rewards card for moving your service. Not sure if that's just if you have U-verse tv service also, but I do know they offer the rewards to keep people from possibly switching to a new provider when they relocate. Check out att.com, the details should be there.
If they have AT&T DSL service at your new place then all you would need to do is call AT&T and get the DSL service switched to the new place and/or number.
AT&T is phasing out DSL for their new fiber optic U-verse service so DSL might not be available there. You would have to call them to find out. I spoke to an AT&T rep last week and he said eventually they will stop offering DSL service in favor of their U-verse. My neighbor has AT&T DSL and was sent an announcement in the mail last week letting him know that U-verse in now available in our neighborhood and his service term for DSL could not be renewed when the term is up (he signed up for a 6 month term in December). The rep said it just takes time to get it done in all places and they are working on it year round to get it done.
