Why are people (mostly younger people) not using Facebook anymore? At school other students make fun of it now, and if someone talks about Facebook they act like it was years and years and years ago that they used to actively use it. What happened?

Maybe they finally are realising its not really a g00d place to be!!
When keeping up with football boys, cheerleaders, and the Friday night party no longer matters, and a couple of kids and a thousand or so throw away diapers... they'll be back.

Facebook really is a pretty crummy interface, and the number of ads really impacts negatively.
What are the other students doing online instead of Facebook?
For my part I quit using it because I got nothing of any value from it. It was full of people seeking narcissistic supply and those who were supposed to be my "friends" cared far more about advertising themselves and promoting their image than about anything going on with me in my life. Meh!
I quickly grew bored with it and deleted my bookmark to it years ago. Facebunk continued to spam me with notices and urging me to come back, but in a year or so they finally left me alone.
When Facebook stopped being a college only site and was opened up to everyone, I think that's when it started to die for the young folk. They like to use social media that the "common folk" don't find useful.
I don't know, maybe it's snapchat? I've never needed a use for it, but that could be it. Heck, I was happily using Myspace a few years back until a movie came out (cannot remember which one it was) and a comment in the movie was made about how Myspace was basically a hook-up site (I'm paraphrasing.) And as soon as I saw this movie, I swear there was a mass exodus of Myspace users to Facebook. I had already had a Facebook page long before any of my other friends, but never used it because it was just me and a couple of others on there that I knew. And at the time, most people were still heavily using MySpace. But as soon as I started seeing all of my friends abandoning their MySpace pages, they all sent me friend requests on Facebook.
I was thinking Google+ was going to be the next big thing. I know it's being used more now, simply because it seems to be more "integrated" with the android phones, but I hardly ever get on my Google+ page.
Yep, snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, and others. That where they go now.
